Guest Session for SICS Students

The Synthetic & Art Silk Mills’ Association Ltd. (SASMA), in coordination with Sasmira’s Institute of Commerce & Science (SICS), organized an insightful guest session titled “Empowering Through Financial Literacy – Embarking on the Path to Financial Well-Being” on 2nd March 2026 at the SASMIRA Campus, Worli, Mumbai.
The session was delivered by Mr. Manish Dutia, Founder and CEO of Morag Finserve, a seasoned financial expert with over two decades of experience in financial advisory and financial product distribution.
The objective of the session was to build financial awareness among students and equip them with practical knowledge to make informed financial decisions at an early stage of their careers.
During the interactive session, Mr. Dutia highlighted key aspects of financial planning, disciplined saving, investing, risk profiling, asset allocation, and the power of compounding. Students actively engaged in discussions and gained valuable insights into responsible financial habits and long-term financial security.

Sustainable Style: The Art of Textile Waste Transformation
Hands-on Session on Upcycling Textile Waste into Sustainable Jewellery

The Synthetic & Art Silk Mills’ Association Ltd. (SASMA), in coordination with SIDT, SASMIRA, organized a hands-on session titled “Sustainable Style: The Art of Textile Waste Transformation” on 20th February 2026 at the SASMIRA Campus, Worli, Mumbai.
The session was conducted by Ms. Dhara Padia, Founder of Doodads Creations and a Sustainable Accessory Designer with over 11 years of teaching experience. The workshop aimed to create awareness among students about the environmental impact of textile waste and demonstrate how discarded fabric materials can be transformed into value-added sustainable jewellery.
During the interactive session, students learned practical techniques to convert textile scraps into creative accessories while understanding the principles of circular design and upcycling. Participants actively engaged in the hands-on activity, exploring innovative ways to combine sustainability with design.

Union Budget 2026 | Economic Perspectives & Business Opportunities
SASMA, in association with SASMIRA, successfully hosted an interactive discussion on Union Budget 2026, focusing on India’s macroeconomic direction, fiscal priorities, and emerging business opportunities, with special reference to the Textile & Apparel sector.
The session featured Mr. Chandrashekhar Tilak, Senior Economist, who led an insightful and engaging open-dialogue, offering a nuanced interpretation of the Budget beyond headlines. His presentation highlighted key policy signals, the economic outlook, and potential opportunities for industry and allied sectors.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from industry professionals, academicians, students, and other stakeholders, both through physical attendance and online participation, making it a truly interactive hybrid session.

Blood Donation Drive and Free Eye Check-up Camp Successfully Conducted at SASMIRA Campus
SASMIRA, in association with SASMA and Vision Foundation of India, successfully organized a Blood Donation Drive and Free Eye Check-up Camp on 7th January 2026 at the SASMIRA Campus, Worli, Mumbai.
The programme was inaugurated by Dr. Kulin Kothari, Chief Guest, Bombay City Eye Institute & Research Centre, and was graced by Mrs. Smita Yeole, Vice President – SASMIRA. The event was further honoured by the presence of the Guests of Honour — Shri Sanjay Khemani (CA), Shri Virendra Yagnik (Speaker & Writer), and Shri Narendra Hirawat (Film Producer & Distributor).
The programme was organized under the leadership and guidance of Shri Mihir R. Mehta, President – SASMIRA; Smt. Smita Yeole, Vice President – SASMIRA; Shri S. S. Khetan, Council Member/Director; and Dr. Ashok Kumar Tiwari, Director General – SASMIRA.
The event received an encouraging response from students, faculty, and staff members. The blood donation drive aimed to support patients in urgent need, while the eye check-up camp focused on preventive healthcare and early diagnosis.
Qualified medical professionals and trained volunteers ensured that all medical and safety protocols were strictly followed throughout the programme.
SASMIRA and SASMA extend heartfelt gratitude to all donors, volunteers, medical teams, and coordinators whose cooperation made this humanitarian initiative a great success, reinforcing the institutions’ commitment to community welfare and social responsibility.
Synthetic & Art Silk Mills’ Association Ltd. (SASMA) has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with IFBEC – International Fashion Business Exchange Council on 3 December 2025.
This strategic collaboration aims to strengthen industry linkages, promote knowledge and business exchange, and enable joint initiatives in areas such as fashion and textile trade promotion, innovation, sustainability, capacity building, and international cooperation.
The partnership is expected to open new avenues for global engagement, collaborative projects, and business development, benefiting SASMA members and the broader textile and fashion ecosystem.
Defence Innovation and Technical Textiles Converge at SASMA
On 1st August 2025, SASMA – The Synthetic & Art Silk Mills’ Association Ltd. hosted a distinguished guest lecture by Dr. R. Indu Shekar, Director, DEBEL – DRDO, at the SASMIRA Auditorium, Worli, Mumbai.
